While at Many Point, your older Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in....

Adventure awaits older Scouts at Many Point this summer. All Scouts and Venturers who are entering 8th grade or above will have the opportunity to take advantage of Many Point's Flintlock Adventure Base. Plus, we have purposely structured many of our adventure activities to be done on our amazing property so that your troop or crew will never be far from its youth leadership.

Huck Finn Overnight

Spend the evening swimming, jumping, fishing, cooking, competing in contests, playing capture the flag by canoe and more all from our 40ft by 40ft rafts in Flintlock Bay.
 

Tree House Overnight

As seen in Scouting Magazine, Scouts will spend the evening in one of two villages hovering in the trees above a 30ft bluff. Activities include cooking, sling shots, contests, tree ecology, campfires and paintball blowguns.
 

Adventure Cove

Swim, climb and compete in an aquatic playground including an inflatable Iceberg climbing wall, Sturn and aqua jousting. Afterward, improve your skills in kayaking, sailboarding and sailing.
 

COPE Program

Build skills in teamwork, cooperation, communication and problem-solving while overcoming a variety of challenges and obstacles on the ground. At the end of the day, climb into the trees to traverse a high ropes course followed by a zip line to the ground.
 

International Target Sports Outpost

In this day-long program, test your accuracy and knowledge by firing a unique set of projectiles. You will have the opportunity to use boomerangs, blow darts, throwing stars, throwing spears, atlatls, crossbows, water balloon launchers and black powder rifles.

The Many Point Outfitters Base operates a series of part and full day adventure programs both on and off camp property. Scouts and Venturers going into 9th grade and older will have the opportunity to explore the area surrounding Many Point while we supply most of the gear necessary for their adventures.

Some treks may not be offered every week, due to seasonal restrictions.
 
Some treks may have a fee of $10 - $15 to cover travel costs, depending on their distance from camp.
 

Otter Tail River Kayak Trip (Day trip)

Kayak 11.5 miles on a wild stretch of the Otter Tail River. This portion of the river features lengths of Class I and II rapids. You will have the opportunity to kayak through the middle of a 100 year-old broken down dam.
 

Maplelag Mountain Bike Trip (Day trip)

The ski trails at nearby Maplelag resort are a summer haven for mountain biking enthusiasts, with some challenging and technical stretches of trail that will test even the most experienced cyclists.
 

Heartland Trail Biking Trip (Day trip)

Spend the day cycling up to 40+ miles on the Heartland state trail. Most of the trail is along abandoned railroad grades, allowing for a gentle ride. However, nine miles of the trail within the Chippewa National Forest is more challenging. This ride is great for Scouts working on Cycling Merit Badge.
 

Itasca Bike Trek (Day trip)

Conquer the crowning achievement of Many Point’s cycling program, with a 70 mile round trip trek from Many Point to the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River. To be eligible for this trek, you must also complete the Heartland Bike Trek or the Maplelag Mountain Biking Trek.
 

Back of the Moon Multi-modal Trek (Overnight trip)

Take the scenic route, biking and canoeing your way to the Back of the Moon site, by way of wooded trails and the chain of Beaver Lakes just east of Many Point. You will travel Many Point's Wint Hartman Trail for part of your journey.

Many Point's All Things Advancement and Adventure Weeks are great opportunities for your older Scouts or Venturers who want to take their experience to the next level.

Each week-long program is structured around a specific interest area so that all advancement, activity and adventure are related to a central idea. Additionally, each program provides training to your youth that is vital for your next high adventure trip or outing.
 
We operate the programs similar to our All Star weeks, meaning Scouts and Venturers can sign up as individuals, and we will provide the staff to serve as the adult leadership. Fees include all meals, equipment, staff and program while at camp. Space for these great programs is limited, so we encourage your youth to sign up quickly.

All Things Aquatic (July 13 - 20, 2013)

Youth will earn all of the following in a single week:
  • Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • BSA Lifeguard
  • CPR Certification
  • Motor Boating Merit Badge
  • Lifesaving Merit Badge
  • Boardsailing BSA
  • Kayaking BSA
  • Safe Swim Defense & Safetly Afloat
 
2013 Fee: $285.00
Age Requirement: 15 or older

All Things Wilderness Response (July 7 - 13, 2013)

Youth will earn or accomplish all of the following while participating in simulated rescue
scenarios. Instruction will all also satisfy the new medical requirements for expeditions
at Philmont Scout Ranch.

  • Red Cross Wilderness First Aid
  • CPR Certification
  • Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge
  • Safety Merit Badge
  • Search and Rescue Merit Badge
  • Participate in simulated air, land and water rescues including local search and rescue teams, a backwoods mounted horse posse and actual emergency vehicles and wreckage.
 
2013 Fee: $285.00
Age Requirement: 15 or older

All Things SCUBA (July 28 - August 3, 2013)

Scouts and Venturers will be able to explore an underwater world at Many Point while earning nationally recognized (PADI) SCUBA certification in a single week. Upon successful completion of the program, youth will have earned the following:
  • PADI Open Water Diver Certification
  • SCUBA BSA
  • SCUBA Diving Merit Badge
 
*SCUBA instruction meets the requirements of the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base.
2013 Fee: $480.00 (includes all equipment, instruction, pool time, open-water dives, program and meals)
Age Requirement: 14 or older

All Things Sportsman's (July 21 - 27, 2013)

Youth will earn all of the following in a single week:
  • Fishing Merit Badge
  • Fish and Wildlife Management Merit Badge
  • Mammal Study Merit Badge
  • Motor Boating Merit Badge
  • Minnesota Firearms Safety Certification
  • Spend the week fishing, trapping, and shooting
  • Develop your skills, under the guidance of seasoned sportsmen

Age Requirement: 15 or older

The Amazing Pace Adventure Week

The Amazing Pace is one of the newest additions to the Third Tier of adventure programming for Older Scouts and Venturers at Many Point Scout Camp. Participants will kick up the pace by competing in a week-long race, testing skill, spirit, endurance and awesome-ness, all in the pursuit of the prestigious title of Amazing Pace Champions.
 
At the outset of the week, youth will be paired into teams of two that will use their collective skills to compete in a series of challenges in adventure settings both on and off camp property. During the final days, the race will culminate in a series of in-camp events fearuring our most popular elements like the 44ft tall climbing towers, shooting sports and zip lines. At the end of each race day, youth will return to their troop or crew's campsite to stay with and participate in traditional evening program.
 

Sample schedule:

 
Each day of The Amazing Pace begins with your team deciphering the clues about the day's events and route. As your team navigates the route, they will encounter a series of challenges while on an adventure that leads them to the daily pit stop destination.
  • Sunday: Check-in and set up camp with unit
  • Monday: Mountain biking on the single-track trails at Maplelag resort
  • Tuesday: Kayaking the rapids on the Otter Tail River
  • Wednesday: Overnight backpacking trip on the North Country Trail
  • Thursday: On-camp Amazing Pace adventure challenges
  • Friday: On-camp Amazing Pace adventure challenges
  • Saturday: Breakfast with unit and depart for home
 
Space is limited to 10 participants (going into 9th grade and older, qualified as swimmers) each week, so do not delay in submitting your registration. Registration opens March 15th. The fee for your week at camp will be $285.00, which will take the place of the standard fee.

Water Sports Outpost

The Water Sports Outpost is one of the premeire elements of the Third Tier of adventure programming offered to Older Scouts and Venturers at Many Point Scout Camp. At its core, the Water Sports Outpost combines advancement with programs so exciting that they were previously restricted not only from Many Point but Scouting in general.
 
Water Sports Outpost truly takes adventure to the next level for Older Scouts and Venturers by replacing traditional morning advancement with a package of water activities resulting in skills and certifications good beyond their time at camp. Best yet, your youth will still be able to camp with and participate in activities with your troop or crew. Participants attend during morning advancement time (breakfast until lunch) Monday through Friday, all week.
 
Participants will work on and do the following:
  • Ride personal watercraft (Jet Skis)
  • Water Sports Merit Badge, including waterskiing and wakeboarding
  • MN Watercraft Operator's Permit
  • Kayaking Merit Badge
  • Kayaking BSA
 
Space is limited to 24 participants (going into 9th grade and older, qualified as swimmers) each week, so do not delay in submitting your registration. Registration opens March 15th. The fee for your week at camp will be $295.00, which will take the place of the standard fee.

Personal watercraft activities are only approved for use in BSA nationally-approved programs.
 

Press Corps

Introducing the Many Point Press Corps—a special opportunity for Older Scouts and Venturers at Many Point Scout Camp. This program is a unique advancement opportunity, featuring Cinematography and Journalism merit badges. Participants attend during morning advancement time (immediately following breakfast until just before lunch) Monday through Friday, all week.
 
Press Corps members will have an all-access press pass to capture the Many Point story—see the inside of the climbing tower to get that perfect video from the top! Images, videos and stories created by Press Corps members will be used to create a weekly Many Point newspaper, content for Facebook, YouTube, and more.
 
Participants will work on and earn the following:
  • Cinematography Merit Badge
  • Journalism Merit Badge
  • Take a field trip to the local newspaper office
  • Produce short videos for the Many Point YouTube page
  • Write, edit, and publish a weekly camp newsletter
 
Space is limited to 10 participants (going into 9th grade and older) each week, so do not delay in submitting your registration. Registration opens March 15th. The fee for this program is included in the normal camp fee. Many Point will provide all specialized equipment.
