Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS)

This hands-on program gives new adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills needed to lead Scouts in the outdoors.

The course covers many of the outdoor skills from the Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks. In addition, the teaching methods, activities, and games model the variety of teaching methods used in effective and engaging Scouting programs.

The IOLS course is a prerequisite for other position specific training courses.

WHEN IS IOLS TRAING HELD?

At Many Point Scout Camp we want you to spend as much time with your troop as possible so we schedule most of the training Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings while Scouts are at their merit badge classes. In addition to the morning sessions, you will complete some activities at your sub-camp Nature Center and Outdoor Skills area during Tuesday and Wednesday evening and after Vespers.
